Happy/Sad Holidays

It's been a busy holiday season here. My mother-in-law is in from England. We went to see The Nutcracker at the Wilmington Opera House before Christmas. Then on Christmas Eve we had our bit of sadness. My 13-year-old cat died. We'd had him since he was about 6 weeks old. It took some of the joy out of Christmas, especially when we had to tell Chloe.

Here's a picture of Jake with our dog, Summer, taken just last week.

He was a cranky cat, but we loved him.

That is incredibly sad Andrea!!!
:( It's so hard to say goodbye, I never fully can! Sounds like your cat had a full and happy life with you.

Thanks, Carolyn. We got Jake as a stray when we lived in DC. A co-worker's boyfriend was going to take him to the animal shelter but stopped off at my office on the way. Jake sat on my lap at work all day and wound up coming home with us to our "no-pets-allowed" apartment. He then moved to four houses with us and certainly led a pampered life!

I am sorry about your cat Andrea. You have a Bassett Hound?!?! I had 2 when I was a kid and my husband and I had one for years as well. I have never seen a Bassett Hound that wasn't a total slime bag. I hope yours behaves!

We adopted our basset from the pound about 5 years ago. She was about 6 or 7 then (not exactly sure because she was a stray). Needless to say, she trained us rather than the other way around!
